About this program

Within the Applications Engineering department you will work in the role of Integrator. In this role you will be involved in the entire life cycle of the most innovative and complex ASML systems. From design, implementation, testing and customer integration and acceptance to aftercare. Making up technical solutions, thinking about the roadmap and coordination between the customer and various stakeholders when it comes to integration of technical solutions, with the aim of realizing the next generation of IC technology together with the customer.
As an integrator you will work closely with customers all over the world. Of course not alone, you will be in a team with the most senior engineers and the top scientists of ASML. Together you will always be looking for improvements and customized on-product performance solutions to optimize wafer yield and fab output. Optimize? Yes, because we don’t do it for the sake of it. You ensure that the machines run at their peak so that the customer achieves optimal production.

More about Applications Engineering
If the performance is still not good enough, you know the right solution. You analyze and investigate the problem and list the different solutions or possibilities. The team then starts with the technical elaboration and realization. You come up with the ideas, and give the assignment to the development teams to develop a new functionality, for example. And when a solution has been found, you go to work to specify the improvement, test it and eventually also implement it at the customer’s location. Where in the world that is, depends on the customer you will be linked to. On average, you will spend between 6 and 8 weeks a year abroad. So not only will you be working for the largest and most successful high-tech company in the world, you will also be flying around the world to do so! How cool is that?
The Applications Engineering department has about 100 integrators/engineers and project leaders who work closely together in project teams. Each team is dedicated to specific ASML customers. The teams consult with the customer’s top litho engineers to identify opportunities for improvements. The goal is to get the next generation IC technology (node) working for the customer and successfully start production as soon as possible.

Tanvi Nautiyal
Ormit Talent & ASML alumni
When I was studying I did not give much thought to where I would best fit as a professional in the corporate world. The Ormit Talent & ASML traineeship allowed me to explore my potential work identities in three unique ways. Firstly, I got to explore different departments at ASML; from finance and tax to project management. Secondly, fellow trainees pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me discover things about myself that I did not know. Last but not the least, through challenging but rewarding discussions with my leadership coach, I gained awareness about my strengths and weaknesses. For a person with a mathematics background, it was a surprise to find out that I excelled in the intersection between people and content. This traineeship helped me realize the importance of reflection and personal development in my leadership journey.
